Another Collapse

Just woke up to news of yet another collapse in Pompeii. The Italian media are reporting that a column in the garden pergola of the House of Loreio Tiburtino collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

Tale indagine si pone a conclusione di una ricerca iniziata nel 2003 che ha permesso di documentare le fasi di vita più antiche di un’abitazione risalente agli ultimi decenni del III sec. a.C. Grazie a otto campagne di scavo, a venti saggi eseguiti all’interno della domus e ad altri cinque effettuati sulle strade che la fiancheggiano, è stato possibile ricostruire la storia edilizia di quest’abitazione. Di particolare interesse, risulta la ricostruzione pressoché totale dell’organizzazione planimetrica e della decorazione della sua fase più antica.
